Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed the BRICS summit in New Delhi, calling on member states to strengthen the blocs institutions and resist unilateral sanctions imposed by other nations.
To enhance efficiency and accelerate the implementation of BRICS decisions, measures such as resisting unilateral sanctions, transforming competition into cooperation and establishing a permanent secretariat are necessary, Pezeshkian said.
He outlined three priority areas for Iran within BRICS: strengthening political coordination based on UN Charter principles, developing independent economic and financial relations among member states, and expanding cooperation in science, technology, energy and food security in ways that benefit the Global South.
Pezeshkian also raised the Palestinian issue, saying BRICS, as a voice of justice, must play a more active role in ending the occupation and guaranteeing their legitimate rights.
