Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Washington should take a very tough position toward Israel if voters reelect Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the countrys October 27 general election.
So if the Israelis want to vote for that again, then I think the United States has to take a very tough position, Clinton said, according to remarks reported by Anadolu Agency.
Clinton also addressed Netanyahus leadership around the October 7 Hamas attack, alleging he either dismissed or exploited advance warnings from the UAE about Hamass plans, calling it a failure of leadership and a failure of protecting the people of Israel.
I love Israel and I hate Netanyahus government and his policies, Clinton said, drawing a parallel to her view of the current US administration: I love America and I hate Trumps government and policies.
She said she hopes a successor government in Israel would address settler violence in the West Bank, warning that unchecked violence poses dangers to both Palestinians and Israel itself.
