U.S. intelligence analysis believes ISIL is behind Russian plane crash

If it is true that ISIL has placed a bomb in the plane that crashed over the Sinai desert, terror researcher Magnus Ranstorp expect that Russia will respond in a brutal way.

Wednesday night CNN announced that US intelligence believes IS planted a bomb aboard a passenger plane that crashed in the Sinai desert on Saturday. The plane was on its way from Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt to St. Petersburg in Russia. All 224 on board where killed.

– There is clearly a feeling that there was an explosive object planted in luggage or somewhere else on board the aircraft, said a source with close knowledge of information from US intelligence to the TV channel.

News of the U.S. intelligence analysis comes hours after British Prime Minister David Cameron’s office said a bomb might have caused the crash.

“While the investigation is still ongoing, we cannot say categorically why the Russian jet crashed,” the Prime Minister’s office said. “But as more information has come to light, we have become concerned that the plane may well have been brought down by an explosive device.”

The Egyptian leader had said earlier that speculation that ISIL might be behind the Russian plane crash was “false propaganda” aimed at damaging Egypt’s image.

ISIL has made a number of statements about the Russian plane. They claimed that they are behind the crash the same day as the plane went down. Shortly afterwards they published also an unfocused video of what looks like an airplane that fall and explode in the air.

Some major international air carriers have avoided flying over the Sinai Peninsula area since Saturday’s crash. The biggest airline in the region, Emirates, as well as European Lufthansa and Air France-KLM have rerouted their flights until all the risks, including a possible terrorist act, have been ruled out by investigators.
